"The phone call is dead. But does it matter?" Dr Matthew Davis contributed to this Financial Times Ignites article by Amie Keeley. The article reflects on the demise of phone calls and what is repalcing them in the modern workplace. Matthew shared findings from our Adapting Offices research that only 1.6% of office activities reported were traditional phone calls.... Is the traditional phone dead and does it matter?
Matthew says "We've definitely seen a shift in how people communicate at work." There has been a move towards "much more pre-planned, scheduled meetings", as well as online meetings and calls, he says. "What might have previously been short one-to-one [meetings] are being increasingly pushed towards text-based interactions, such as [online] messaging and email."
